Deyaar launches Business Bay mixed-use scheme

Dubai developer Deyaar has launched a Dhs1bn mixed-use project in Business Bay.

The South Bay project, announced at Cityscape Global, will consist of residential, serviced apartment and hotel elements, and will cover a built-up area of more than 1.3 million square feet.

The 63-storey development will comprise 926 units, from studios through to three bedrooms. Among the units, 448 will be residential, 133 will be serviced apartments, and 345 will be hotel units operated by a multinational brand. Amenities include a gymnasium, swimming areas and mini golf.

South Bay will be Deyaar's first project with three separate accommodation components. The official sales launch for South Bay will be announced in the coming months. The developer has been expanding its hospitality portfolio with plans to reach more than 2,000 keys by 2020.

In September last year, Deyaar announced a partnership with hotel company Millennium & Copthorne to manage three hospitality projects totalling nearly 1,000 units and including the Islamic hotel in Al Barsha, The Atria in Business Bay and Montrose in Dubai Science Park.

"It’s been really good. For a first event, the numbers are good, and we’ve had some very positive feedback from the owners that we’ve invited here. We’ve had some really good conversation with partners and potential owners. The atmosphere has been really good - I think the tours of Bangkok yesterday which allowed people to get to know each other on an informal basis was a great idea. I’m sure the event will grow from here."
